Long-Acting Amylin Receptor Agonist
Cagrilintide (AM833) is a long-acting acylated analog of human amylin, engineered for extended half-life through fatty acid conjugation. Amylin is a peptide co-secreted with insulin from pancreatic beta cells and plays a key role in postprandial glucose regulation, gastric emptying, and satiety signaling. Cagrilintide acts as an agonist at amylin receptors (CALCR/RAMP complexes) and has been studied in combination with GLP-1 receptor agonists — most notably semaglutide — for additive effects on body weight reduction and metabolic parameters. It represents a novel mechanistic approach in obesity and metabolic disease research.
